Why are there multi-age classrooms?​​​​​​Multi-age classrooms allow students to develop a sense of community with their peers. Older students have the opportunity to become leaders and mentors to younger students and as the class returns year after year, the students develop lasting relationships with their classmates and their teachers.

What is the cost?​​​​​​Students ages 3-4 years who are enrolled in the Mary Raber Montessori School pay $160/week tuition for 36 weeks. This tuition includes after-school care until 5:30pm. There is no tuition for students enrolled in grades K-5, however, after-school care is available for kindergarten students for an additional cost.

Is transportation provided?​​​​​​Transportation is provided for students enrolled in grades K-5 unless they live in a walk area of Mary Raber Montessori School. Families of children ages 3-4 years are responsible for student transportation.

My child did not get a place in a classroom, can I apply again next year?"​​​​​​You can apply again next year, however students already enrolled in the program are given priority for the next year’s class.

Do you provide after-school care for students at Mary Raber Montessori?After-school care is provided for students ages 3-4 years and is included in the tuition fee. After-school care is also available for kindergarten students for an additional fee.

What if we don’t live in the Mary Raber district?All families that live in the Whitley County Consolidated Schools District are eligible to apply.

What if we don’t live in the WCCS boundary?Students may apply for the Mary Raber Montessori School even if they are not within the Whitley County Consolidated Schools district.

Where will my child go after Mary Raber Montessori School?All students who complete K-5 education at Mary Raber Montessori School will continue on to Indiana Springs Middle School with students from other WCCS elementary schools.

What accreditation do teachers at Mary Raber Montessori School have?All classroom teachers at Mary Raber Montessori school are state certified elementary teachers. In addition, Mary Raber Montessori teachers are Montessori trained and certified by the state of Indiana.

How long is the school day?The school day begins at 7:40am and ends at 2:10pm.

Does Mary Raber Montessori School offer after-school activities?Like other WCCS elementary schools, Mary Raber Montessori School offers after school activities.

Is Montessori unstructured?Not at all. Montessori is student-directed but guided by a highly trained teacher to provide the most appropriate lessons for each child.

Is lunch provided at Mary Raber Montessori School?Breakfast and lunch are provided to all students at Mary Raber Montessori School through WCCS Food Service Department.

Is there a waiting list?Registrations are accepted on a first come first served basis. Currently, there is a waitlist for the 22-23 school year.

Can children with an IEP attend Mary Raber Montessori School?This is a decision that would be made at a case-conference based on if Mary Raber Montessori is an appropriate placement for this child.
